Charlies Beach & Smokehouse

Definitely recommend this place for lunch or dinner. Beautiful setting, amazing food and menu, and lovely area to sit with the choice of drinks and ice cream too. The best food we’ve had since being in Australia. Fairly expensive but big portions and close on the beach.

Council works is making it very difficult for the owners however, we chanced it and the food and service was fantastic.

The best tasting food I’ve had since landing in Australia! Would recommend to anyone visiting Mission Beach.

What a gem! We weren't overly impressed with our accomodation restaurant reviews and prices so we went for a stroll along the beach and found Charlies! It was quiet (roadworks in the side street were most likely the cause of this or the Monday night!) But we were welcomed the moment we looked our head in the door! With a tapas/share menu along with the normal menu we were spoilt for choice. All our food choices were delicious and the portion sizes were quite big. Our son had the salt/pepper Calamari and it was the perfect size for him. We also shared the garlic bread, brisket main dish and bratworst. We all left with full tummies and feeling spoilt by the friendliest staff! Kid-friendliness: Extremely welcoming to our 5yr old! Menu has afew kid options but also welcomes suggestions to keep kids happy!

Enjoyed a delicious vegan tapas dinner last night. Staff were very attentive.

The most amazing food

Stumbled on this place for lunch (tapas) we had the baked Camembert in honey and thyme and crispy roast potatoes. We are from Melbourne and these dishes definitely rate up there. We had delicious ice cream for dessert with so many flavours to choose coffee flavour and pistachio scrumptious. Service was friendly and efficient. Right on the beach with gorgeous sea views. Highly recommend.

Amazing cocktails, great view and exceptional service.

Don’t judge from the street. Lovely little restaurant set back from the beach. Shady and cool seating with a gentle sea breeze, enjoyable music playing. The staff were very attentive and made recommendations for drinks. The food was fresh and delicious. My husband had the mackerel fish which was cooked to perfection and a nice large piece. I had the yummies feta & Haloumi micro green Persian salad, great choice all round. Renovations happening in the street which is not good for business, sure it would impact their income so support them as we want them to be there when we next visit Mission Beach. Couple visiting from Cairns.

Waren heute in Charlie’s Beachhouse, das ist eine echte Empfehlung, wir hatten Charlie’s Spezialität aus dem smoken und die Spanish Makarel waren super …. Super netter Service und Betreuung und Beratung durch Charlie , dieser ist übrigens von der Isla Margarita, also ist die Küche leicht karibisch / kreolisch und auch die leichte unaufdringliche Musikuntermalung!!!!

I came from interstate to visit my sister and was lucky enough to be taken to dinner at Charlie's Beach House. Next time I may travel from interstate just to visit Charlie. The food is that good it would be worth the trip. Not to mention Charlie himself and incredible staff who make you feel like family. I had the brisket, which is perhaps the signature dish, although there is a plentitude of options on the menu for all tastes. Without any exaggeration, it literally melts in your mouth and is complemented by a unique variety of sides. A culinary experience I will treasure the memory of together with the rest of the beach holiday. I can not recommend any higher, definitely one of the best feeds in Australia.
