Frankland Islands Reef Cruises

We had such an amazing day and would definitely recommend this to anyone who is wanting to experience a day on a tropical island with super friendly and informative crew! We had heaps of time to snorkel and loved the guided island walking tour. We saw lots of different fish, coral and black tip reef shark from the shore on the walking tour. We were a family group and had kids aged between 11 and 15 and they all loved it! Thanks for the best day!!

The staff were amazing, they even sang happy birthday to me, won’t ever forget the experience that I had. Love to all the staff & crew.

The day was slow to start we were picked up so late and there was a miscommunication about where to pick me up and it was their fault for not confirming with me but the bus driver was shitty when he dropped me off. The guide though that did the first snorkel tour was incredible. I loved her so much she was so knowledgeable and so so sweet. I would give her 5 stars. I can’t remember her name - tall blond blunt bob. So amazing. I saw a huge turtle which she pointed out to me it was so cool. The lunch was fine. I wish they didn’t serve cold chicken but whatever.

I can highly recommend going to Frankland island for a relaxing day out on the reef. The crew is amazing! Especially Kelly and Patrick have made the day very enjoyable with their friendly and energetic personalities!

Great way to get a taste of the reef even if any of your party are not the most comfortable on the water. Overall, very well-organized, helpful and patient staff, supportive of all skill levels, flexible variety of activities to participate in. Enjoyed that the island feels secluded and remote since it's limited to only the 100 person max group that arrives on the boat with you. No other tour groups. No structures or buildings on the island, except for a tarped shady area where about 8-ish picnic tables are covered. Less time on open water in a boat than other reef experiences (about 30 mins vs 45++ mins) which would be a concern for those prone to sea-sickness or if waters got a bit choppy. First 30 mins before open water is in the river. Snorkle safari in waters further out from the island, or snorkle right off the beach. We did the later and were still able to see coral and many colourful fish. Wet suits, snorkels and flippers provided. Paddle boards, pool noodles, life jackets and a couple kayaks were available for use. Go on a semi submersible for another reef viewing options - - saw giant clams and a couple sea turtles. Scuba and a walking tour of the island also available. Lunch was plentiful and very nice. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate on the boat ride both ways, with cheese, crackers and cake slices on the way back. Note that the shuttle bus can spend almost an hour total picking up guests from the various accommodations in Cairns before embarking on the 50 min journey to the boat launch. (No toilet on board the bus, but there are onboard the boat). My family, included 2 young teen boys, had a great time, with lots of fun memories of the things we got these and do. The tour team did a great job of making everyone comfortable and safe. Hats off the Andy who was very well organized and attentive, as well as Kelly who showed strong leadership and teamwork skills. Saw lots of good communication, support and encouragement from her toward her fellow crew throughout the journey. Good hustle and attention from everyone. It's a good indication of a well-run operation. Hope you enjoy it as we did.

Great relaxing cruise. We got to snorkel, canoe, did the semi-sub cruise. The island walk and lunch were great. Everything included and no extra charges for side tours.

Brilliant day - great staff, great boat, great food ! A really beautiful island and the snorkeling was excellent.

Absolutely loved this trip!!! I went with my friend and we were looking for a relaxing island trip and this was definitely a 10/10! I’ve never seen so many beautiful shells - and the crew was absolutely amazing, fun, energetic and full on. Thanks for this perfect day guys, we’ll be back!!!

I had the best time visiting Frankland Islands!! From top to bottom the day was 10/10. Plenty of activities included, lunch on the tropical island, passionate crew members and secluded pristine beaches. Special shoutout to Kelly, who made us feel very welcomed and shared her passion for the island with us!! Will be back!!

Forget about all the other ways to see the Great Barrier Reef. This is, hands down, the best way to experience reefs in the north of Australia. The Frankland Island Reef Cruise is the FIRST thing I talk about when people ask about my trip to Australia. It is worth every penny, but it is also an amazing value. The crew is incredibly informative and so so nice. Everything you could need is included and because this is a private area you don't have to worry about it being over crowded or too busy. They provided a bus ride from Cairns to the incredibly nice boat that took you from the mainland to the island. Everything you could need for the day is provided. I truly mean each and every star of my five stars.

I had a great time and loved snorkelling. My husband and kids don't swim so we opted for this tour over other outer reef or pontoon options out there. It was a great experience and I love that the island is mostly untouched and undeveloped. The staff were overall helpful and friendly.

Had an amazing experience, welcoming team very knowledgeable, delicious lunch provided by the crew had great options for vegetarians too. Me and my husband did snorkeling for the first time - was awesome 🤩 special thanks to Phillipo our snorkeling instructor. We were not good at swimming, he made it happen for us, was really supportive and motivating us throughout. He just made our day. Would highly recommend them and love to visit again 😊

Thanks Franklin Island Reef Crusises. Our family had a wonderful day. We each got to experience the reef in a way that suited us. From the 70 year old to the 12 year old, we all fun. The crew was fabulous. They were so friendly and so kind and obviously took pride in their work and had a passion for the reef. Definitely recommended.
